Robert Mouynet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Mouynet (born March 25, 1930 in Toulon ) is a former French football player .

Club career

The right-back played in the top French league since 1949 , initially with Toulouse FC ; there he was used in almost half of the point games. When the TFC was relegated from Division 1 in 1951, this also meant for Mouynet that he was temporarily out of sight, because he stayed in Toulouse for the following two second division years. In 1953 he moved to league rivals AS Cannes .

From the 1955/56 season he was in the ranks of Olympique Lyon , in which his first year was the most successful: in the final table OL was eighth, and in the cup competition he reached the semi-finals, in which, however, the UA Sedan-Torcy with 1-0 prevailed. In the following three seasons, the Gones - the most common name for Olympique's team - only landed between 8 and 12. Robert Mouynet was so convincing that he was taken to Sweden as a substitute for the senior national team in 1958 (see below ) .

In 1959 he returned to Toulouse FC, where he was also used in over 100 point games until 1963. But even there he won no title in the championship or cup; Fifth place in the final table of the 1959/60 season and seventh place in 1962/63 already meant the best placements for the southern French. Whether Robert Mouynet subsequently played for a lower-class club cannot be determined, nor is it known what became of him after his time as an active player.

As a reservist at the World Cup finals

In the summer of 1958, Robert Mouynet was also part of France's World Cup squad , but never played an A international match at the finals in Sweden or anywhere else. Nevertheless, Mouynet was then able to adorn himself with the success of a third place in the World Cup without a single minute of play.
