Robert N. Lee

Robert Nelson Lee (born May 12, 1890 in Butte , Montana , † September 18, 1964 in Hollywood , California ) was an American screenwriter .

biography

Lee, brother of the screenwriter and film director Rowland V. Lee and the screenwriter Donald W. Lee , began his career as a screenwriter with Shirley of the Circus in 1922 and wrote the templates for around 30 films by 1945.

At the Academy Awards in 1931 he was nominated together with Francis Edward Faragoh for the Oscar for the best adapted screenplay , namely for Little Caesar (1931).

Other films based on his originals were Underworld (1927), The Kennel Murder Case (1933), Nebel über Frisco (1934), The Executioner of London (1939) and Under Black Flag (1945). During his career he worked with directors such as Josef von Sternberg , his brother Rowland V. Lee, Michael Curtiz , William Dieterle and Mervyn LeRoy .
