Robert Reinhold von Wirén ( Russian Роберт Николаевич Вирен ; * December 25, 1856 July / 6 January 1857 greg. In Novgorod ; † March 1 July / 14 March 1917 greg. In Kronstadt ) was an admiral of the Imperial Russian Marine .

Life

In 1877 von Wirén became a guard in the Imperial Russian Navy. In 1883 he was promoted to lieutenant at sea . In 1895 he became a second-rate captain. In 1901 he was promoted to captain of the first rank.

In 1903 he was given command of the armored cruiser Bajan . The bayan was one of the most modern ships of the Pacific Squadron of the Imperial Russian Navy and was stationed in Port Arthur . In the course of this he took part in the Russo-Japanese War . In 1904 he was promoted to rear admiral.

In 1909 he became the chief commander of the port and military governor of Kronstadt. Furthermore, he was promoted to Vice Admiral in the same year. In 1915 he was promoted to admiral.
