Robert Rill

Robert Rill (* 1960 in Vienna ) is an Austrian historian .

Rill was born in 1960 as the son of the historian Gerhard Rill (1927–2015), later director of the House, Court and State Archives , in Vienna. From 1978 to 1984 he studied history and political science at the University of Vienna . In 1986, he was at Erika Weinzierl the Institute of Contemporary History to Dr. phil. PhD.

Since 1992 he has been working in the war archive of the Austrian State Archives in Vienna. As a consultant, he is head of the map collection and the holdings of “military legacies and collections”. He is also the author of the ÖStA's virtual exhibition “100 Years of the First World War”. He published, among other things, on contemporary and church history as well as on the history of cartography , fortifications and railways ; Article published in The Eighteenth Century and Austria , the communications of the Austrian State Archives and in the Annali dell ' Istituto storico italo-germanico in Trento .

Rill is married and has five children.
