Robert Tilton

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Gibson Tilton (born June 7, 1946 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American presenter, author, entrepreneur and pastor of a megachurch in America. He became particularly well known during the 1980s when his programs were broadcast on more than 200 American television networks. Tilton earned around 100 million US dollars annually through its missionary work and used these contributions to continuously expand its reach. In 1991, however, a lawsuit was brought against him, which is why he had to reduce the range of his programs again.

The Trinity Foundation continues to oversee the activities of Robert Tilton's network. In 2003 she estimated the (tax-free) income of his network at US $ 24 million.

In Germany Tilton is best known as "the Farting Preacher". This designation comes from a corruption of his facial expressions that he began in 1985, which he made under the influence of divine inspiration, which he himself claimed. During these inspirations he paused briefly in speaking. During these breaks, a comedian duo synchronized flatulence noises. The first video circulated as an unofficial VHS video cassette in the late 1980s. More of his television appearances were "set to music" in recent years and have since been circulating on video platforms such as Youtube, titled "Farting Preacher". The documentary Religulous shows some excerpts from Tilton's sermons in connection with donations and speaking in tongues .
