Robert Warzycha (born August 20, 1963 in Siemkowice ) is a Polish football coach and former football player . The former midfielder is currently training Górnik Zabrze from Ekstraklasa, Poland .
He spent most of his career as an active footballer in Europe. He played for clubs in Poland, Hungary and England. He celebrated his greatest successes with Górnik Zabrze. As part of the team was able to become Polish champions twice and win the trophy once.
From 1987 to 1993 he was an integral part of the Polish national team.
Player career

Warzycha joined the Columbus Crew in 1996 . Before that, he played football in Europe for over ten years. a. also in the English Premier League for Everton . His last stop before the USA was Honvéd Budapest with whom he won the Hungarian Football Cup in 1996 .
In the crew he was one of the regular players until the 2001 season. A season later he ended his career because injuries kept throwing him back. At the end of his career he was the record holder for most assists within the team.
National team
He played a total of 47 times for the Polish national soccer team and scored seven goals.
Coaching career
After retiring as an active player, he became an assistant coach with the Columbus Crew. After Greg Andrulis was fired in 2005, Warzycha briefly took over as coach. He was also assistant coach under Sigi Schmid .
After Schmid moved to the Seattle Sounders , Warzycha became the team's new head coach and won the MLS Supporters' Shield in his first season in this position .
Trivia
His son, Konrad Warzycha , also plays football. Since the 2011 season he has been on the Sporting Kansas City squad . Another son Bartosz (* 1990) played for Westerville , Ohio-based Blast FC and at Marshall University . The Warzycha family belongs to the Ohio Polish Congregation.
