Ruth Mertzig

Ruth Mertzig (* 1947 in Tröbitz , married Ruth Müller ) is a former German badminton player .

Career

In her birthplace Tröbitz, she learned to play badminton in the BSG activist Tröbitz . For this club she also achieved all of her sporting successes. In 1966 she first drew attention to herself when she won the mixed title at the GDR Junior Championships together with her club colleague Jürgen Bommel. With this achievement she recommended herself for the first team of the Tröbitzer Verein, which at that time was already six-time GDR team champion. In the years from 1967 to 1969 she was a regular player in the Niederlausitzer team and contributed significantly to Tröbitzer title wins seven, eight and nine. After that, Ruth Mertzig was quiet in the sporting field.

Ruth Mertzig, now married Müller, now lives in Doberlug-Kirchhain .
