Gottfried Seemann (born April 28, 1940 in Klein Tschernosek ) is a former German badminton player .

Athletic career

Gottfried "Friedel" Seemann was the dominant badminton player in the early years of East German badminton. From 1960 to 1967 he remained unbeaten in all important competitions in men's singles and from 1961 to 1967 won all GDR championship titles in this discipline. There were also 11 team titles with activist Tröbitz , 10 of them in a row from 1962 to 1971 as well as 5 mixed titles with Rita Gerschner and 6 doubles titles (five with Erich Wilde and one with his cousin Gerolf Seemann ).

In 1964 he married his long-time mixed partner and teammate Annemarie Fritzsche .

Gottfried Seemann was active in the GDR age group championships until the mid-1980s, where he was also able to fight for two silver medals each in singles and doubles (with Joachim Schimpke ).

He still lives in Schilda today and keeps fit by bowling .
