Robert de Dunstanville
Robert de Dunstanville († 1166 or 1167) was an Anglo-Norman knight and courtier who temporarily served as a royal steward .
Robert de Dunstanville came from the Anglo-Norman family Dunstanville , a knightly family that owned, among other things, possessions in Wiltshire . He was in the service of Reginald de Dunstanville , who was probably not related to him , an illegitimate son of King Henry I. Through him and his family, he came into the entourage of Empress Matilda during the anarchy . He attested numerous documents for both the empress and her son, who later became King Heinrich II . In a certificate from Henry II, Robert is referred to as the Royal Steward . In the mid-1150s the king rewarded him by handing him over the income from estates in Heytesbury , Wiltshire, which amounted to about £ 40 annually. From about 1160 onwards Robert received income from Colyton , Devon , which amounted to about £ 20 a year. In his will, Robert made donations to Monkton Farleigh Priory , Wiltshire. His nephew Walter I became his heir .
