Roberta Kelly

Roberta Kelly (born November 23, 1942 in New Mexico ) is an American singer. She first became known in the 1970s for disco music , worked with Giorgio Moroder on her greatest successes and finally turned to gospel music .

Career

Roberta Kelly was born in New Mexico, but grew up in Los Angeles . Even if she never achieved the status of Donna Summer , Roberta Kelly was able to land some hits with the help of producer and disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder from the mid-1970s. These include Trouble Maker , number one on the American disco charts in 1976, Zodiacs , Funky Stardust (1977), Oh Happy Day (1978) and Patty Cake (1981). Kelly recorded three albums with Moroder, including Gettin 'the Spirit , an LP that presented gospel songs in disco garb. In 1975 she also sang with the German pop band Silver Convention . The singer continued her career in the disco and pop genre until the early 1980s, including as a background singer for Claudja Barry ( Sweet Dynamite ) and Donna Summer ( She Works Hard for the Money ). She later devoted herself entirely to gospel music and released the album Sound of Color in 1995 . Kelly is still active and performing regularly. In 2008 she released the single America (The Sound Of Color Realized) and has since been working on a new album.

Kelly has lived in Germany since 1972.
