The Robin Subglacial Basin ( English Robin Subglacial Basin ) is a 220 km long, 50 km wide and completely covered by glacial ice basin in the West Antarctic Queen Elizabeth Land . It is one of the three large basins in West Antarctica , along with the Byrd subglacial basin and the Bentley subglacial rift . Its lowest point is 2 km below sea level . It is flowed through by the Institute Ice Stream and the Möllereisstrom , which are separated from each other by the Bungenstock Ice Rise .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the basin after the Australian geophysicist and glaciologist Gordon de Quetteville Robin (1927-2004), a pioneer in the evaluation of remote sensing data to determine ice thickness and movement in Antarctica in the 1960s and 1970s.
