The Robson Street is a great southeast to northwest trending main road through Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada . The road runs through Downtown Vancouver to the West End of Vancouver. In addition to being the city's main thoroughfare, it is also an exclusive, popular and expensive shopping street in Vancouver. There are several shops, restaurants and cafes on the street. The street was named after John Robson , a Canadian politician, journalist and Prime Minister of British Columbia between 1889 and 1892. He was a co-founder of the Confederation League, which was instrumental in British Columbia's accession to the Canadian Confederation . Robson Street begins at BC Place Stadium near False Creek and then runs northwest at Vancouver Library Square , Robson Square, and the Vancouver Art Gallery and ends at Lost Lagoon , Stanley Park .

Shopping

Robson Street is considered the main shopping street in Vancouver. There are several exclusive shops and restaurants in the street. Robson Street is known for the countless exclusive fashion boutiques that stretch from Granville Street in the southeast to Denman Street in the northwest. Robson Street connects Burrard Street with Alberni and Georgia Street, which is home to well-known exclusive boutiques such as Hermès , Gucci , Louis Vuitton , Betsey Johnson , Chanel , Burberry , Cartier , Tiffany & Co. , Lacoste , Coach and Salvatore Ferragamo .

On the adjacent Thurlow Street there are two Starbucks Coffee Shops opposite one another, one is strictly non-smoking and the other is not. The western corner of the street is a popular spot for bikers.

Architecture and other sights

There are several skyscrapers near Robson Street, many of which include condominiums and hotels. The Sheraton Landmark (also known as The Empire Landmark Hotel) has the tallest building with 42 floors. This is also where the exclusive Cloud Nine revolving restaurant is located. At the southeast end of Robson Street, several new high-rises with apartments are being built near the Yaletown district on Granville Mall.

Robson Street is also a popular exhibition space where exotic, rare automobiles and motorcycles are exhibited on weekends, mainly in the summer months.
