Robyn Hitchcock (born March 3, 1953 in Paddington, London ) is an English singer-songwriter.

He began his career in 1976 in Cambridge with the band The Soft Boys . After this band split up in 1981 (short-term reunion in 2002), Robyn Hitchcock began a solo career. Under the name Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians , however, he continued his collaboration with former members of the Soft Boys. He also performed in a duo with Annie Barbazza .

Robyn Hitchcock's musical style, which is largely influenced by artists such as Bob Dylan , Syd Barrett and John Lennon , combines elements from folk , psychedelic rock and new wave . Bands like REM and Psychedelic Furs are in turn influenced by Robyn Hitchcock.
