The Rocky Bay (English for rocky bay ) is a small bay with numerous cliffs and reef rocks on the south coast of South Georgia . It is located immediately north of Ducloz Head .
In 1819 Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen was probably the first to map the bay during the first Russian Antarctic expedition (1819–1821). The descriptive name, established since at least 1930, probably goes back to seal hunters and whalers who operated in this area.
