Rod Espinosa

Rod Espinosa (* Philippines ) is a comic book author and illustrator. He graduated from Don Bosco Technical College with a Certificate in Technical Drawing for Architecture and graduated with a BFA Major in Advertising Arts from Santo Tomas University in Manila . Four years after graduating, he moved to the United States.

His first stories appeared in the Ninja high school - Annuals . He drew a few notebooks from Ninja High School before publishing his first own stories ( For * Eternity , Chronicles Of The Universe, and Battle Girlz ). His first well-known work was The Courageous Princess at Antarctic Press , which was published in German as The Courageous Princess by eidalon Verlag . The story was originally conceived as a novel, but was then implemented as a graphic novel . Three volumes have been published so far, and a fourth is being planned.

This work led to nominations for the Ignatz Award 2000 in the categories "Promising New Talent" and "Best Artist". In 2002 the title was nominated for the Eisner Award in the category “Best Title for Young Readers” . He also wrote the Neotopia series, a futuristic fantasy story about a world that has changed for the very best after an era of devastating economies and personal greed. This series was published in German as Novotopia by eidalon Verlag and was nominated for the Max and Moritz Prize 2006 in the category “best comic for children”.

In addition to his own projects, Rod Espinosa is also the editor of the American edition of How To Draw Manga , he is also one of the authors of the series, as well as for all annuals and swimsuit editions that appear at Antarctic Press and contain stories and drawings of fans are published, responsible. He's just finished working on a comic book version of Alice in Wonderland .

Rod Espinosa lives in San Antonio , Texas .
