Rod rigging

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Rod rigging are Stage and shrouds referred consisting drawn , solid full steel made (instead of the otherwise used Drahttauwerks).

The advantages of rod rigging are that it stretches less and that it is thinner and therefore more aerodynamic than wire ropes, because there are no voids between the strands, which are inevitable in wire ropes .

The main disadvantages are higher costs, higher space requirements if the mast is to be stored (cannot be rolled up to save space) and shorter durability. Damage is also not easy to detect optically; instead, complex examinations for microcracks may be necessary.
