The Rodna Mountains , also Rodna Mountains ( Romanian Munții Rodnei ) are located in northern Romania . The mountain range has a length of 50 km in a west-east direction. It belongs to the northern mountain group of the Eastern Carpathians . 46,399 hectares of the Rodna Mountains are protected. The Rodna Mountains National Park is the largest national park in Romania.

The highest mountain in the range is the 2303  m high Pietrosu peak. The mountains also exceed the 2000 meter mark (Rum. Vârful)

In the Rodna mountains there are many interesting caves (Rum. Peştera), because the mountains are karstified.

  • Izvorul Tăușoarelor, southern part near the Parva settlement in the Bașca mountain, the length is 16 kilometers
  • Baia lui Schneider, just east of the settlement Valea Vinului , the length is 430 m
  • Grota Zânelor, in the center of the mountains, 4368 m length
  • Măglei on the western edge, near the Telcișor settlement
  • Jgheabul lui Zalion on the western edge, near the forester's house in the Telcișor settlement
  • Izvorul Albastru al Izei on the northern edge, near Borșa.
  • Peştera Cobăşel
  • Peştera de la Obârşie (Piatra Busuiocului)
  • Peştera Laptelui (Peştera de sub Paltin) near Borşa

The source area of the Great Somesch lies in the Rodna Mountains . At the foot of some peaks there are the following mountain lakes (area / volume):
