Rodoald
Rodoald († 653 ) was King of the Longobards from 652 to 653 .
Life
Rodoald was the son and successor of King Rothari and his first wife.
After Rothari's death in 652, Rodoald succeeded him as king. After a reign of only five months and seven days, he was killed by a Lombard whose wife he had seduced. Aripert I succeeded him as king.
The tradition that he married his stepmother Gundeperga is generally regarded as just as false as the indication of a reign of five years with Paulus deacon.
