Rodrigo Barrera (born October 30, 1970 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean football player who acted in the attacking midfield or in the attack .

career

Barrera began his professional career in 1988 at his hometown CD Universidad Católica , with which he won the Chilean cup competition in 1991 and the Copa Interamericana three years later . Another great achievement was reaching the Copa Libertadores finals in 1993 .

In 1995 Barrera moved to Club Necaxa in the Mexican league and helped the Rayos to defend their championship title, which they had already won in the 1994/95 preseason.

He then returned to Chile, where he spent the next seasons at CF Universidad de Chile and won the Chilean championship three times and the cup competition two more times.

Between 1993 and 1998 Barrera completed a total of 22 missions for the Chilean national team , in which he scored five goals. He was also part of the Chilean squad at the 1998 World Cup in France , but was not used there.
