Roger Allen (diplomat)
Sir Roger Allen KCMG (born August 17, 1909 , † February 9, 1972 ) was a British ambassador .
Life
Roger Allen studied until 1937 Law and entered the Foreign Service in 1940. From 1946 to 1948 he was accredited at the embassy in Moscow. From 1949 to 1950 he headed the United Nations Department in Whitehall . From 1950 to 1953 he headed the Africa department. In 1953 he was Assistant to the Under-Secretary and headed the Middle East Department. From 1954 to 1955 he was the representative of Frederick Millar, 1st Baron Inchyra as British High Commissioner in Germany and Ambassador to Guatemala . From 1955 to 1956 he was envoy at the embassy in Bonn. In 1957 he was knighted as Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George . From 1965 to 1967 he was Deputy Under-Secretary of the Foreign Office .
