Roger Alperin

Roger Charles Alperin (born January 8, 1947 ) is an American mathematician who deals with group theory and its geometric and topological applications.

Alperin studied at the University of Chicago with a bachelor's degree in 1969 and received his doctorate in 1973 from Rice University under Stephen M. Gersten (Whitehead Torsion of finite abelian groups). In 1973 he became an assistant professor at Brown University , in 1978 professor at the University of Oklahoma and since 1987 he has been a professor at San José State University .

He also studied the math of origami .
