Roger Furrer (born July 24, 1984 in Chur , Switzerland ) was a Swiss professional golfer . He was a member of the Swiss national team from 2001 to 2014 (boys, junior, amateurs, professional). Since 2015 he has been Club Manager at the traditional Lucerne Golf Club (Lucerne, Switzerland).

Life

He began playing golf at the Domat / Ems golf club at the end of 1997 . Joined golf by chance , his career among the juniors took a steep rise. Within four years he made it from beginner to scratch player (Hcp.0).

In 2003 he was able to win an amateur / professional tournament in Switzerland and still played as a junior at the professional tournament " Omega European Masters " in Crans-Montana . In addition to several individual victories, he was also a two-time Swiss champion.

Due to the good results and two victories at international junior tournaments in the USA, he was able to study economics and become a member of one of the best US college teams in Augusta, GA, USA.

As an amateur, in addition to taking part in individual and team European championships, he mentions Switzerland’s fourth place at the 2004 team world championships in Puerto Rico as a special highlight. With the first bronze medal at an amateur European championship for Switzerland in the following year in England, the coronation came for Switzerland.

Roger Furrer was a member of the Swiss national team from 2001 and has also been part of the Swiss national team since he switched to the professionals at the end of 2007.

For the first three years as a professional he played mainly on satellite tours in Europe and the USA. He then succeeded in an exploit in March 2011. He qualified in Florida with a 3rd place at the Canadian Tour Qualifying School as the first Swiss for a major tour in North America as a "Fullexpemt-Member".

Also for 2012 and 2013 he gained full eligibility to play the PGA Tour Canada, which is now under the care of the US PGA Tour. He almost always ranked himself in the prize money and played several times at the top of the top flights. During the summer break of the 2012 tour, he won the Omnium (Swiss championships for professionals and amateurs) and the Swiss PGA Championships (Swiss championships for professionals) in Switzerland. He was also able to qualify as one of the top 4 in the Swiss Order of Merit for the Omega European Masters in Crans.
