Roger Smith (* 1960 in Johannesburg ) is a South African writer.

Life

Roger Smith worked as a screenwriter , director and film producer . The theme of his crime novels is violence in South African society; they play in his adopted home Cape Town , partly in the Cape Flats . With his works, Smith would like to draw particular attention to the gap between rich and poor and the resulting violence in South Africa. Since 2012 he has also been writing horror novels and espionage thrillers under the pseudonyms Max Wilde and James Rayburn .
