Roland Breitschuh

Roland Breitschuh (born January 11, 1964 in Krefeld ) is a German cameraman and photographer . He has lived in Cologne since 2000 .

Life

Breitschuh completed an apprenticeship as a photographer with Werner Unger, assisted in various photo studios and then worked freelance for various agencies and customers from the advertising industry. After Breitschuh's internship at ZDF in Mainz in 1989, he became a film camera assistant with Carl F. Hutterer and also a cameraman there in 1995. Roland Breitschuh has been working as a freelance cameraman and photographer since 1999.

The film Taste the Waste directed by Roland Breitschuh (WDR production, director: Valentin Thurn) was the most successful documentary film of the 2011/2012 cinema season and earned the film numerous national and international awards. After Taste the Waste came u. a. a political discussion about the German best before date, as well as a questioning of European standardized agricultural commodities. Breitschuh's camera work in the documentary scenes (interviews) filmed in Germany for the US film "Jesse Owens" (PBS; firelight media, director: Laurens Grant), which received three Emmy nominations and one Emmy in 2013, also received a lot of attention. In 2014, Roland Breitschuh and his colleagues received another Emmy nomination in the “Outstanding Cinematography, documentary and long form” category for the visual design of the science documentary “Killer in the Caves” (production smithsonian channel, USA / Taglicht Media , D, director: Dennis Wells).
