Roland Hammerschmied

Roland Hammerschmied (born November 10, 1967 in Sokolov , Czech Republic ) is a German musician and winner of the culture award from his hometown Geretsried .

Live and act

Roland Hammerschmied's family moved to Geretsried in Bavaria ten months after his birth . In his childhood he learned to play the tenor horn and other instruments by himself . After graduating from the state secondary school in Geretsried, he trained as a chemical technician and then as an industrial foreman chemistry . In 1986 he passed the exam to become a choir director for amateur choirs as part of the Bad Feilnbach Choir Week of the Bavarian Singers' Association.

In September 1992 he founded his “Mixed Voices” choir, which still exists today and presents jazz or pop songs , modern classics, gospels and spirituals through to classical sacred and contemporary choral music. In addition to regular concerts in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district , the vocal ensemble has performed various concert tours in Germany as well as Austria , Italy , Switzerland and India .

Hammerschmied also sang from 1997 to 2014 in the Munich rock and jazz choir “ VoicesInTime ”.

In addition to his work as a choir director and singer, Hammerschmied is also director of the "Gartenberger Bunkerblasmusik", founded in 1992. Furthermore, since 2015 he has been playing together with Enno Strauss in the “Enno Strauss Duo” at various events.

As the second chairman of the Egerländer Gmoi Geretsried, Hammerschmied is also in charge of several singing and dance groups in the traditional costume association .

  • 2016: Egerland Culture Prize "Johannes-von-Tepl"
  • 2018: Bronze district medal of the district of Upper Bavaria for its voluntary cultural commitment
  • 2018: Isar-Loisach medal for voluntary cultivation of the people
