Roland Wittmann

Roland Wittmann (born August 18, 1942 in Budapest ; † March 22, 2019 ) was a German lawyer .

Life

After graduating from high school in Munich in 1962 , Roland Wittmann studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich up to the first state examination in law. From 1967 to 1973 he also studied philosophy and philosophy of science, in 1971 he received his doctorate and then worked as a research assistant until 1978 . After his second state examination in 1973 and his habilitation in 1978, he was appointed professor for civil law , legal philosophy and Roman law at the University of Munich. In 1992 he was offered the chair for civil law, legal philosophy, Roman law and European legal history at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) . From 1994 to 2003 Roland Wittmann was a judge at the Brandenburg Higher Regional Court . In 2007 he retired , since then he has been a lecturer at the Viadrina, and since 2010 of counsel at a law firm.

His main focus was on Roman constitutional history , civil procedural law , commercial and economic law, and legal philosophy.
