Coaxial cables or (from 1988) fiber optic cables were used as the transmission medium . Mixed networks (data conversion coaxial cable - glass fiber) were also possible. The speed of 500 kBaud was a good value for the time. A maximum of 253 computers could be connected under Rolanet.
