Rold Skov is the second largest contiguous forest area in Denmark with an area of 80 km² . It is located in Himmerland in northern Jutland and is divided between the municipalities of Rebild and Mariagerfjord . In the forest are the Den Jyske Skovhave arboretum and the Rebild Bakker nature reserve .

Rold Skov is named after the place Rold in the south of the forest. Other larger places in or on the edge of the forest are Skørping and Rebild in the north, and Arden in the south.

Stone circles and row of stones

In the south of Buderupholm, at the northwest corner of Rold Skov, there are a row of stones (Danish: Stenrække ) and three stone circles . The hill with the row of stones measures approximately 12.0 × 0.8 m. A 70 m long row of 27 stones runs across the middle of the hill and further to the northwest. To the north of the row is a stone circle with a diameter of 5.0 m. It consists of a large stone in the middle and 9 stones in a circle, which, however, only represent a third of the stones. The rest went out. West of the row is a stone circle about 10.0 m in diameter. It consists of 27 small stones that form a complete circle. Further to the west, near the edge of the forest, there is another stone circle about 5.0 m in diameter, which consists of seven larger stones.
