Rolf Hoppe (born March 18, 1945 in Santiago de Chile , † December 22, 1969 in Los Angeles ) was a Chilean javelin thrower .

Athletic career

Hoppe took part in the 1968 Summer Olympics, where he was the flag bearer of the Chilean team. At the South American Championships in 1969 he surpassed Ricardo Hébers championship record from 1952 with 69.76 meters.

Hoppe studied at San Fernando Valley State College, California . He died shortly before Christmas 1969 after a car accident on Interstate 405 at UCLA Medical Center . He left behind his mother and a sister and brother. Hoppe was buried in Santiago de Chile.
