Rolf Hornig

Rolf Hornig (born February 25, 1919 in Rüstringen ; † November 22, 2006 in Westerstede ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and former member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

After finishing elementary school and attending extension classes, Hornig completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman, which he completed by taking an exam at the Oldenburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He then worked for an insurance company as an employee. He was drafted into the military in August 1939 and served in the army. After being wounded in Russia in March 1945, he was dismissed from the Wehrmacht . Hornig worked for the city of Wilhelmshaven as an employee of the municipal utilities. He took on various political positions and eventually became district chairman of the Wilhelmshaven SPD and a member of the SPD district committee for Weser-Ems.

From May 6, 1955 to May 5, 1959 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (3rd electoral period), he belonged to the SPD parliamentary group until May 5, 1956, after which he was non-attached.

Hornig was married and had two children. He died on November 22, 2006 at the age of 87 in Westerede.
