from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rolf Quinque (born June 20, 1927 in Brehna ) is a German trumpeter.

Quinque completed his studies with Heinrich Teubig (1882–1968) from 1946 to 1949 at the University of Music in Leipzig . From 1951 he played in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra for five years before becoming principal trumpeter of the Munich Philharmonic until 1971 .

Finally, Quinque took over the management of the brass section at the Richard Strauss Conservatory until 1989 , which opened up better opportunities for him to perform as a soloist. As a result, Rolf Quinque gained an international reputation as a concert soloist, which, in addition to many concert tours, was expressed in invitations to major festivals, including Vienna, Salzburg, Bregenz, Berlin and Edinburgh.

Rolf Quinque's repertoire included trumpet concerts from the baroque, classical and contemporary music, a small part of the extensive recordings is still available on CD.

His textbook for trumpet in 4 volumes appeared from 1980 under the title ASA (Breathing, Support, Approach) and has seen new editions ever since.
