Rolf Rübsam

Rolf Herbert Rübsam (* 1937 ) is a German teacher and local researcher .

Career

From 1966 to 1996, Rübsam taught German and history at the Gerhard Rohlfs grammar school in the Vegesack district of Bremen and at the Lesum grammar school. From 1977 to 1989 he was also head of the Society / Politics department.

On a voluntary basis, he dedicated himself to coming to terms with the political past and remembering the victims of the National Socialists . After years of research he worked on books and essays on the history of the Jews in Bremen. He was responsible for the redesign of the memorial on the former synagogue square in the Aumund district by naming the Jewish victims from the region.

He is a member of the board of trustees of the International Peace School Bremen and co-founder of the Bremen working group of the German-Israeli Society and the Bremen Association Remembering for the Future .
