Rolf Wiggershaus

Rolf Wiggershaus (* 1944 in Wuppertal ) is a German philosopher and publicist . Wiggershaus has become known as a historian of the Frankfurt School . His study of their history and significance as well as his introductions about Theodor W. Adorno , Max Horkheimer and Jürgen Habermas are considered standard works.

Wiggershaus studied philosophy , sociology and German literature - with Adorno among others - and received his doctorate in 1974 in Frankfurt am Main with Jürgen Habermas. Since then he has worked as a lecturer , freelance journalist and translator. His main work, Die Frankfurter Schule , was published in 1986 and translated into various languages. He lives with his wife Renate Wiggershaus in Kronberg im Taunus.
