Romain Métanire (born March 28, 1990 in Metz ) is a French - Malagasy football player . He is under contract with Minnesota United and plays for the Malagasy national team .

Métanire joined FC Metz in 1997 . In 2009 he came to the second team, for which he scored a goal in 13 missions in the 2009/10 season. He has been a professional since July 1st, 2011. On November 5, 2010 he made his professional debut on matchday 14 in the 1-0 defeat against Le Mans when he came on in the 77th minute for Yeni N'Gbakoto. On November 21, 2010, Métanire also made his first appearance in the Coupe de France . In the period that followed, it took until May 2011 for him to appear again for the professional team. On May 27, 2011, he was in the game against FC Évian Thonon Gaillard in the starting eleven. In the following season Métanire fought for a regular place. After the team was relegated to the third division in 2011/12, he rose with the team in 2012/13 and 2013/14 up to the first division, only to be relegated to the second highest football league in the country after one season.

In 2016 he moved on to the Belgian first division club KV Kortrijk and a year later to Stade Reims . With the club he was promoted to Ligue 1 in 2018 .

In January 2019, Minnesota United from Major League Soccer announced Métanire's commitment.

National team

On September 9, 2018, he made his first appearance for the Malagasy national team in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification against Senegal (2: 2) .
