Roman Heinz

Roman Heinz (born August 20, 1923 in Feldkirch ; † August 20, 1997 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and union secretary. From 1965 to 1983 he was a member of the National Council .

Life

After primary and secondary school, Heinz graduated from a commercial business school and subsequently worked as a commercial employee. He later became the state secretary of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB). Heinz began his political career in 1953 as district chairman of the SPÖ Feldkirch, a position he held until 1966. In addition, from 1954 to 1979 he was a member of the chamber council for workers and salaried employees and was elected to the municipal council in Feldkirch in 1955. In 1960 he rose to the city council for construction and housing, where he resigned from this position in 1965. Heinz moved into the National Council on March 15, 1965, and in 1966 was elected regional party leader of the SPÖ Vorarlberg . After resigning as regional party chairman in 1976, he was elected honorary chairman of the SPÖ Vorarlberg that same year. Heinz, who resigned from the National Council on May 18, 1983, was also President of the Socialist Lake Constance International from 1972 to 1975 and its Vice-President from 1975.
