The Romanes Beach is a beach on the west coast of the Antarctic Ross Island . It is just south of Harrison Bluff on the north shore of Wohlschlag Bay .
Participants in a campaign of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition , which was carried out from 1958 to 1959 and landed there with the freighter USS Arneb , mapped it. The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the beach after the New Zealand mountaineer Walter Romanes (1931–1988), a participant in the expedition.
