Ron Grahame was selected by the New York Raiders in the World Hockey Association's General Player Draft in 1972 . Without having played for the Raiders, he was transferred to the Houston Eros . There he played his first games in the WHA during the 1973/74 season and won the Avco World Trophy for the first time as the third goalkeeper with the Eros . In the 1974/75 season he was number 1 in Houston and won the championship again with the team. Grahame also received awards as the best goalkeeper and most valuable player in the play-offs . During the 1980/81 season he was sold to the Québec Nordiques , for which he played a few more games. He also played that season in the American Hockey League with the Binghamton Whalers . He then ended his career and was a member of the University of Denver's coaching staff for a total of three years .
