Ron Griffiths (born October 2, 1946 in Swansea ; actually Ronald Llewellyn Griffiths ) is a former British rock musician who was best known as the guitarist and singer of the Iveys, the band that was later called Badfinger .

At a young age he sang in the school choir and as a teenager he became enthusiastic about instrumental rock 'n' roll bands like The Shadows and The Ventures . As a result, he began to learn the electric bass . In 1963 he joined his first band, the Jaguars. During this time he met Pete Ham , who had noticed him at a local gig and asked him if he wanted to join his new band, the Wild Ones. Griffiths agreed and it was he who came up with the idea for the band to be renamed The Iveys (Ivey Place is a street in Swansea).

First the band played in the opening act for stars like The Moody Blues or Roy Orbison , where Griffiths was able to prove his above-average singing talents. He also began to write songs, most of which went under. On the debut album of Iveys Maybe Tomorrow there is only one song by him, Dear Angie . The song was released as a single in Japan.

Some time later, Griffiths married and his wife had a child, so he began to separate himself more and more from the band. In 1969, shortly after the Iveys recorded the song Come and Get It , which would bring them worldwide fame, Griffiths left the band and started working in a factory in Wales. He was replaced by Joey Molland . A short time later, the Iveys were renamed Badfinger . On their debut album Magic Christian Music is again the Griffiths song Dear Angie .
