Ronald Douglas Stewart Mar Erskine, 15th Earl of Buchan ( April 6, 1878 , † December 18, 1960 ), was a Scottish nobleman .

Life

His father was Shipley Gordon Stuart Erskine, 14th Earl of Buchan ; his mother was Rosalie Louisa, daughter of Jules Alexandre Sartoris. When his father died in 1934, he inherited his title Earl of Buchan and the subordinate titles Lord Cardross and Lord Auchterhouse . As a title heir ( heir apparent ), he had held the courtesy title of Lord Cardross since 1898 .

Ronald Erskine embarked on a military career but did not get beyond the rank of lieutenant. He first served in the Scots Guards ; then fought between 1900 and 1902 in the Second Boer War . During World War I he served as a transport officer for the London Mounted Brigade and the Camel Transport Corps ; until his retirement he was then for the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (now the Royal Regiment of Scotland ) and the Yorkshire Yeomanry in service.

He died unmarried and childless in 1960. Therefore, his fourth cousin Donald Erskine inherited his title of nobility.
