Donald Erskine, 16th Earl of Buchan

Donald Cardross Flower Erskine, 16th Earl of Buchan (born June 3, 1899 - † July 26, 1984 ), was a British peer and politician .

Life

His father was Montagu Erskine, 6th Baron Erskine ; his mother was Florence, daughter of Edgar Flower.

When his father died in 1957, he inherited his title Baron Erskine and the associated seat in the House of Lords . As the great-great-great-grandson and next legitimate male descendant of Henry David Erskine, 10th Earl of Buchan , he inherited the Scottish title of Earl of Buchan and subordinate to the death of his fourth cousin Ronald Erskine, 15th Earl of Buchan in 1960 Lord Auchterhouse and Lord Cardross .

Donald Erskine embarked on a military career. After his training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst he also fought in World War II, he ended his career as Lieutenant Colonel with the 9th Royal Lancers .

He was married once. The marriage, on January 5, 1927, to Christina Baxendale, daughter of Hugh Woolner and adopted daughter of Justice of the Peace Lloyd Henry Baxendale, had four children (three of them are still alive, as of July 1, 2014):
