Baron Erskine

Baron Erskine , of Restormel Castle in the County of Cornwall , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

In contrast to the later awarded titles Baron Erskine of Rerrick (1964; expired 1995) and Baron Erskine of Alloa Tower (2000), the title is also called in the long form Baron Erskine of Restormel Castle .

Awarding and other titles

The title was created on February 10, 1806 for Thomas Erskine , on the occasion of his appointment as Lord Chancellor .

The 7th Baron inherited the Scottish title of 16th Earl of Buchan in 1960 , along with subordinate titles. The Barony of Erskine has since been a minor title of the Earl.

Probable title heir ( Heir apparent ) is the eldest son of the current title holder, Henry Thomas Alexander Erskine, Lord Cardross (* 1960).
