Henry David Erskine, 10th Earl of Buchan ( April 17, 1710 , † December 1, 1767 in Walcot , Somerset ), was a Scottish nobleman .

Life

His father was David Erskine, 9th Earl of Buchan ; his mother was Frances, daughter of the writer Henry Fairfax. With the death of his father, he also took over his title of Earl of Buchan and the subordinate titles Lord Auchterhouse and Lord Cardross , an inheritance beyond that was not available due to high debts and lack of will.

Henry David was devoted to science all his life. On January 10, 1733 he was invested in Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS for short) ; no further details from his life are known. He died in Walcot; his body was buried after the transfer on December 21, 1767 in the church of Holyrood Abbey in Edinburgh .

Henry David was married once. From his marriage, on January 31, 1739, to Agnes, daughter of James Steuart, 1st Baronet Steuart of Goodtrees, he had nine children, six of whom are named:
