Ronald Oaxaca

Ronald L. Oaxaca (* 1943 ) is McClelland Professor of Economics at the University of Arizona , Tucson . His research areas include labor economics , applied econometrics, and applied microeconomics .

Oaxaca graduated from California State University in 1965 and received his Ph.D. in 1971. at Princeton University . The topic of his dissertation was income differences between men and women. He became known for his related Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition , which he developed in 1973 in parallel and independently of Alan Blinder . With the method, for example, the gender pay gap can be examined more closely. It is also used in inequality research.
