Ronald Pieper

Ronald Pieper (born March 21, 1948 - † August 26, 2007 ) was a Swiss yachtsman , entrepreneur and investor .

Pieper participated in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. He took 20th place in the Soling class. In 1987, 2001 and 2005 he won the gold medal at the sailing world championship in the 5.5m class , twice together with Jochen Schümann .

Pieper came from a family of industrialists. Until his death he was the owner and managing director of Reppisch-Werke Dietikon and a member of the board of directors of Franke Holding, which his father Willi Pieper took over in 1975 . In addition to his active sports career, Pieper was the organizer of the St. Moritz Match Race and the UBS Alinghi Swiss Tour as well as the president of the Swiss Sailing Pool , a sponsor association.

He died of heart failure on August 26, 2007 in Pontresina GR. He is buried in Risch ZG.
