Ronan from Locronan
Ronan von Locronan (also Renan , Latin - Celtic for the born again, * in Ireland around 600 ; † at Hillion ) is a Catholic saint . He was a hermit and mission bishop in Brittany . His grave is in the church in Locronan .
According to tradition, he was a pupil of Senan whom he had accompanied to Brittany. Around 990 relics also came to Tavistock Abbey in Devonshire. There are some legends about his life . He lived with Hillion in what is now the Côtes-d'Armor department , between Lamballe and Saint-Brieuc , where he died. Above his grave in Locronan was in the Middle Ages the Church St-Ronan built. A large procession takes place here every seven years. His feast day is June 1st.
