Rory Storm
Rory Storm ( January 7, 1938 - September 27, 1972 ), actually Alan Caldwell , was the front man and singer of the Liverpool band Rory Storm & the Hurricanes .
In 1957, Caldwell, who had been a seller until then, founded a skiffle band. In March 1958 he opened the Morgue Skiffle Club , which was played by local bands, including his own group Al Caldwell's Texans and the Quarrymen , which later became the Beatles . The club was closed again by the police in April of that year.
On April 30, 1958, Caldwell performed with his Texans on Radio Luxembourg . At the end of 1959 the band was called Rory Storm & the Hurricanes . In 1960 the Hurricanes had their first extended engagement. From then on they earned their living as musicians, u. a. in Hamburg , in France , but above all in England . Ringo Starr was the group's drummer before joining the Beatles in 1962 , where he replaced Pete Best on drums . In 1967 the group disbanded.
Storm then worked as a disc jockey in Benidorm , Jersey , Amsterdam and of course in Liverpool. Rory Storm died on September 27, 1972, at the same time as his mother and presumably from a tablet overdose.
