Rosa Bavarese

Rosa Bavarese , actually Maria Rosa Schwartzmann , also Rosa Marie Pasquale (born around 1710 in Munich ; died 1755 there ) was a German opera singer (soprano) and Bavarian electoral chamber singer .

Life

Schwarzmann was born the daughter of a butcher. On March 1, 1732, she was accepted into the Association of the Electoral Bavarian Court Orchestra in Munich.

Because of her virtuoso singing skills, she became known throughout Europe under the stage name "Rosa Bavarese" (Bavarian rose). Her earnings amounted to 500 guilders a year. During her career, she performed in front of Elector Karl Albrecht of Bavaria in Nymphenburg Palace .

She was married to the theater cloakroom operator Joseph Pasquale from 1737 and also used his name for her appearances.

In memory of the artist, on November 16, 2006 a street in the Munich district of Neuhausen-Nymphenburg was named after her.
