The pink lobster ( Palinurus mauritanicus ) is found in the eastern Atlantic from western Ireland to southern Senegal and is also found in the western Mediterranean . In contrast, it is not represented in the Adriatic . It lives on rock bottoms, coral substrates and also mud bottoms at a depth of 180 to 600 meters. In the western Mediterranean, it is most commonly found between 400 and 500 meters.

The maximum body length of this lobster species is 50 centimeters. As a rule, however, the representatives of this species reach body length between 20 and 40 centimeters. She lives sociable at times.
