Life

Salkind came from a wealthy Jewish merchant family. Her father ran a big business in Kiev . She later recalled that her father lived in Kiev with his older brothers, and that her mother raised them and "taught very democratic ways of thinking". Rosalija Salkind was the youngest child in the family. When she was five years old, she learned (as she later told herself) of the discussions within the family about the possible murder of Tsar Alexander II. Her apartment was searched by the police for political pamphlets. When she was six, she moved to Kiev to go to school. She finished school at the age of 15.

She was now increasingly concerned with Marxist literature. In 1896 she joined the RSDRP . In 1905 she took part in the uprising in Moscow. From 1909 to 1914 she was in emigration. In 1917 she became the secretary of the Moscow Party Committee. In 1918 she took over political tasks within the Red Army . In November 1920 she became the secretary of the Crimea - Oblasts appointed. Together with Béla Kun she organized the punitive measures after the withdrawal of the White Army . In the following years she was entrusted with higher administrative tasks and finally became a member of the highest Soviet . In 1943 she was released from office. She died in Moscow in 1947. Her ashes were buried in the necropolis on the Kremlin wall .
