Rosalind Nashashibi

Rosalind Nashashibi (* 1973 in Croydon , London Borough of Croydon ) is a British filmmaker and painter .

life and work

Nashashibi was born in London to a Palestinian father and an Irish mother. She studied painting and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sheffield Hallam University in 1995 . She completed her Master of Fine Arts in 2000 at the Glasgow School of Art .

In addition to numerous other exhibitions, she was a participant in Manifesta 7, the Nordic Triennial , the 10th Sharjah Biennale and represented Scotland at the 52nd Biennale di Venezia . She received the Paul Hamlyn Award for artists and in 2003 the Becks Award. She took part in documenta 14 with the film Vivian's Garden (2017) . In 2017, Nashashibi was nominated for the Turner Prize . She works intermittently with Lucy Skaer .
